Experience
I have tutored several adult students and currently help at a tutoring academy. French tutoring appeals to me because I am able to share my passion for France and the French language and impart it to others. The personal interaction allows for me to tailor each lesson to the particular individual, ensuring that it is fun but also effective. I spent two years in Paris studying French at the Sorbonne. They were intensive, five hours a day, five days a week : four hours of grammar and one hour of phonetics. The final semester was university courses for foreigners at the end of which a final exam and 20 page paper were required. My paper was sociolinguistic in nature looking at how a few words showed a change in French mentality since the last 70 years. Of course, living in the culture is a continual lesson. So although out of class, I was continually learning. I have functioned as a court French translator in America and aided in the transcription of French interviews on behalf of a research project. I have nine years experience working with youth as a youth leader and in camping ministries both in the States and in France.
